Once a rising investigative journalist in New York, Ava Masters is now desperate and stranded in a cheap motel in the middle of nowhere. She needs a story to get her home, and her luck changes when a grieving mother tells Ava that a cult murdered her son.

The lead sends Ava to Salvation, Washington, where the small, pious community seems to hide something sinister beneath the surface. With no proof and no safety net, Ava goes undercover, intent on joining the cult she’s investigating.

As she infiltrates the group, Ava meets Chase Matthews, the cult leader’s charming son. He’s young, handsome, devoted, and convinced God sent Ava — for him. 

As Chase’s interest in Ava grows, she sees the perfect opportunity to use him to expose the cult’s sins. What begins as calculated manipulation blurs into something more complicated as Ava gets pulled deeper into the cult and closer to Chase.

The longer Ava stays, the more the cult begins to feel like home…and the more dangerous it becomes to leave.
